University of Galway has won its bids to secure two major international events over the next two years.
Combined, they’ll be worth almost €5m to the local economy and will bring thousands of visitors.
The first of the two major events will happen next year – and it’s the annual meeting of the International Association for Media and Communication Research.
That’ll bring together over 1,500 experts from around the world – and is worth an estimated €2.8m for the local economy.
Next, in 2027, University of Galway will be the venue for the annual meeting of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organisations.
Over 750 experts will attend that event, with the estimated overall benefit to the local economy sitting around €1.4m.
Separate to these latest events, thousands of visitors are also expected to descend on University of Galway in August 2027 – for the Marching Show Bands World Championships.
