ALDI Athenry will become the retailer’s twelfth Galway store when it opens next Thursday – with a Galwayman at the helm.
Store Manager Austin Mahony has worked with ALDI for twelve years at various stores in Galway, including most recently as Store Manager in Portumna.
“I live nearby in Oranmore with my wife, Fiona and our children, Daithí, Ailbhe and Tara, so it’s nice to be working so close to home,” he says.
“I started my ALDI career in Loughrea, where I am originally from. I’ve seen first-hand the difference ALDI has made in Galway, in terms of value for customers, creating jobs in the community and supporting suppliers from across the county,” he adds.
When not working, Austin love golf and hurling, and am very involved with underage coaching in Oranmore Maree GAA.
And he’ s looking forward to being busy on the work front, running the new ALDI store on Cross Street in Athenry, when it opens next Thursday, July 6.
The Athenry outlet will be open from 9am to 10pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday.
