The old saying that ‘where there’s muck, there’s luck’ rang true for a woman who lost her ring in a portable toilet at the Sportsground in Galway.
Thanks to the efforts of Tomás Dunleavy, a staff member at Walsh Waste and Recycling, the ring and its owner were reunited in a tale that began on College Road and finished in Germany.
Suzanne Quinn, who lives in Munich, was at the Sportsground when she lost “a ring of very sentimental value”.
Holding out little hope of retrieving the piece of jewellery, she contacted Walsh Waste and Recycling in Oranmore in the hope they might be able to help.
“Deciding to call them on the long shot that there was some way of rescuing my ring for me, I spoke to a very helpful customer service person who, to my surprise, told me that they would see what they could do,” said Suzanne.
A day later, she was contacted by Tomás, from Gurteen outside Athenry, who had retrieved the ring.
