We all know things have dramatically increased in price in the last 18 months and treatments in the beauty salon have not escaped. Any decent treatment using the latest in technology costs at least €100 these days and can cost anything up to €300 per session, with often at least a course of six or eight recommended for best results.
So what are to do if we want to give our skin the best chance of looking its best as we age?
Well one solution is to bring the beaty salon home.
Investing in your own device has become a much affordable option that even just five years ago.
Rather than twiddling her thumbs on the closure of her Beauty Suite salon in Tuam, beautician Anna Forde spent her lockdown investigating how to create a machine that could replicate light therapy at home.
The Haumea’s LED Light Therapy device combines LED light, up to 43 degree thermo heat and sonic pulses to target specific skin issues.
After thoroughly cleansing, apply a sheet mask or your favourite serum and turn on after charging for two hours – one charge lasts at least ten days.
Easily held in the palm of the hand, you choose which light setting depending on your concern.
The red light to stimulate collagen production and rejuvenate skin cells – it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars, pigmentation and blemishes by boosting collagen production which is key for keeping skin healthy as we age. The thermo heat softens skin and enhances blood flow, allowing oxygen and nutrients to move through the blood vessels.
The yellow to hydrate and brighten skin – this is the one to use before an event as it soothes the skin, combats swelling, boosts hydration and improves skin tone. The pulsing massage increases skin circulation and boost blood flow to give an instant glow.
The blue light when you have breakouts to destroy bacteria that causes blocked pores, spots and blackheads. This setting uses no thermo heat but the vibrations target bacteria trapped on the skin.
