Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry hurlers bid to upset the odds

CORK hurling is on the rise at all levels, but Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry will be striving to throw a small spanner in the Rebels’ works at Croke Park on Sunday (2:30pm).

But Mattie Kenny’s charges – fresh from a semi-final victory over Rathnure – are 9/4 outsiders to halt the gallop of impressive Cork champions Watergrasshill in the All-Ireland Club Intermediate Final.

Since this championship was inaugurated two decades ago, only Oranmore-Maree in the spring of 2019 have delivered silverware for Galway teams.

It puts into perspective the stiff task ahead of the likes of Paul Killeen, Shane Moloney, Johnny Conroy, Padraig Breheny and company, and it will probably take a career best from the east Galway amalgamation to carry the day.
