Punk Alley, “a loud, wild, and unapologetic joyride of live original punk music and high energy dance for people of all ages”, is coming to the Town Hall Theatre next Friday, October 13 at 3.30pm. It’s for all ages, especially those aged five and older.
Presented by award-winning, inclusive dance-theatre company Moxie Brawl, this is billed as a show “full of heart that asks big questions, creating a vibrant and fun space for young people to explore what they want to use their voice to fight for”. The group’s work has been described by audience members as ‘absorbing ’, ‘endearingly witty’ and ‘satisfying ’, with special praise for ‘the words and sentiment in the songs.
For Punk Alley everyone is invited get involved in creating songs, writing placards, and playing music as they dance, sing, shout, whisper, stomp, spin, sign and shake with the Lazurr Tuts on a journey of self-expression.
Irish Sign Language is embedded in the piece and the lyrics will be provided (in English) on two screens at either side of the stage.
For those who’d like more information before settling down to watch it, there will be a pre-show access orientation, led by Access Support Worker Neelam Saredia-Brayley. People will be able to experience the set and costumes, hear the loudest parts of the music, see the brightest lights and, if they need to, sit in their seat before everyone else.
This free, drop-in session will take place an hour before the show and will last for 30-45 minutes.
The performance on Friday, October 13, is relaxed and ear defenders will be available for people who are more sensitive to loud music. Punk Alley will last for 50 minutes without an interval.
Tickets are €10*; Family Ticket (4) €30*, from tht.ie, 091-569777 or the box office
