A Connemara writer with a massive interest in mythical Ireland is back with his brand new book – and after looking at wonders and beasts, this time Mark Joyce has turned his attention to mythical sites and locations across modern-day Ireland.
Mark, an artist by training who owns the renowned Joyce’s Craft Shop in Recess, has just published Mythical Irish Places, the third in a series that comes after the success of Mythical Irish Beasts (2018) and Mythical Irish Wonders (2020).
And while the first two focused on the monsters and heroes of Irish mythology, the latest release brings to life the stories and legends behind those fabled places around modern-day Ireland.
The books are aimed at adults as well as children aged eight and over. The intricately designed covers and unique illustrations on the inside bring to life the wonderous myths of an Ireland now forgotten.
Mark is both author and illustrator of the series, the first two of which have featured on The Late Late Toy Show.
