Carty says win will allow squad fully enjoy the Christmas

Connacht have an extra incentive to get then job done when they host provincial rivals Ulster in the Sportsground tonight, says Jack Carty – a win will mean they can enjoy an extra mince-pie on Christmas Day guilt-free!
With the game going ahead two days before Christmas, as opposed to the derby Christmas slot of a day or two after December 25, Connacht’s captain says it means the players can enjoy Christmas that little bit more – but especially if they are savouring the sweet taste of victory.
“It certainly does mean we can enjoy Christmas, hopefully we will get a big win and you can lo forward to the 24 25, other years you have been enjoying it at 70% or 80%, it will be nice to get a win and enjoy the couple of days with an extra mince pie,” he laughed during the pre-match press conference held earlier this week.
Carty will make just his seventh appearance of the season tonight, having missed the early stages with a hand injury, and more recent games with a foot injury, something which saw him travel to Cork for special treatment on.
“I had a PRP injection on my foot two weeks ago, I was just managing it for the last six or seven weeks, just got it done and had to take a two-week break.
“They took blood out of my arm and spin it, to separate the plasma I think, and then they reinject it back in to promote healing, effectively. I had it done in Cork, not the most pleasant, it was quiet sore, but I am hoping it will help,” said Carty, who is set to make his 186th appearance for the province.
