Comedian and talk show host Tommy Tiernan is one of 177 objectors to a planned wind farm on the west coast of Connemara

The €1.4bn Sceirde Rocks Windfarm project had planned to build 30 wind turbines off the coast of Carna

This project was one of six major offshore windfarm projects central to the Government’s Climate Action Plan.

A planning application for the wind farm was submitted to an Bord Pleanála last month, but the project backers Corio Generation have since said they are prioritising other developments.

In his objection, Tiernan highlighted the areas natural beauty saying, ” Allowing such a project to go ahead when there are many more suitable sites either much further off-shore or inland would be a totally irresponsible and disgusting thing to do.”
