Arts Week with Judy Murphy
Renmore Pantomime will return to the Town Hall, after a two-year absence, this Thursday, December 29, with a new production of the perennial favourite, Cinderella. It’s the 42nd production from the group who promise they will ‘Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo’ their way through the city’s Town Hall Theatre for a total of 23 performances.
Fun and laughter are promised in their version of this story, which shows that being good will ultimately triumph over being bad.
Cinderella’s loyal companions, Hortense and Buttons, are played by Síofra Ní Chonluain and Cian Ó Ceallaigh, who are a great duo. Cinderella is played by Olivia Corbett-Joyce, whose loving father Baron Stoneybroke (Michael Cooney) is as impoverished as his name implies. Seán Steed as Dandini, meanwhile, is Prince Charming’s (Keith Hanley) valet, protector, and friend.
The ugly sisters Gorgonzola (Declan J.Gardiner) and Fromaggio (David Booth) connive to keep Cinderella in the ashes and away from all life’s pleasures, while the jealous Demoness Demelza (Elizabeth Flaherty) brews up all kinds of mischief as she attempts to win the day.
That involves capturing the heart of the dashing Prince Charming as he seeks to find love his own way while keeping a promise to his father that he will marry before his 21st birthday.
