The Art of Giving, a group exhibition by the NOVA Contemporary Art Collective opened in the City Library on St Augustine Street on Monday night and will continue until Sunday, March 1.
The group’s mission statements quotes the writings of poet Bharat P Bedi: “We have many things to give, a radiant smile, a helping hand, a caring look, a compassionate ear, a touch of empathy, abundance of love, a bit of charity.”
The group explains that, in Buddhist teachings, the practice of giving claims a place of special eminence and is, in a sense, the foundation and seed of spiritual development.
The NOVA artists, all graduates of ATU, are Katie Burke, Deirdre Crowley, Maria Donegan, Áine Doherty, Róisín Doherty, Anne Greene, Emer MacDermott, Hugh Murphy, Megan Mulcahy, Caoilfhionn Ní Cheallaigh, Louise O’Boyle, Tonita O’Dwyer, Helen Roberts, Beatrice Stapleton and Heather Watson
In this show, they share their interpretations of the meaning of The Art of Giving. Admission is free and all are welcome to view the works in the City Library.
