A spectacular new Irish dance production, Emerald Isle, will be staged at the city’s Town Hall Theatre on Monday, March 10, at 8pm.
Emerald Isle, from Legacy Entertainment Ireland, combines traditional Irish dance with contemporary theatrical elements, as it promises to take audiences on a journey through Ireland’s rich cultural heritage.
Produced by Chris Hannon, a former lead performer in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, the show features multiple World Championship dancers and a live band of excellent traditional musicians, headed by Courtney Cullen from County Wicklow. Combining explosive choreography, an original score and some well-known classics, it will bring audiences on a tour around the 32 counties of Ireland.
Legacy Entertainment has a track record of staging Irish music and dance shows. One of its previous productions, Murphy’s Celtic Legacy, which was inspired by Chris Hannon’s grandmother, went on to be a sell-out.
This special performance of Emerald Isle comes to Galway days after the show’s world premiere in Omagh, and it marks a milestone for its producer before the production has its United States premiere on Saturday, March 22.
“Bringing Emerald Isle to Galway has special significance for us,” says Chris. “Having competed in the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha World Championships as a boy, at Leisureland several times, Galway holds many fond memories of where I started my journey within this exceptional artform.
“Being able to return and showcase Legacy Entertainment Ireland’s fourth theatrical production there really feels like a full-circle moment.”
The show starts at 8pm on Monday, March 10 and tickets for this one-night-only performance of Emerald Isle are now available.
They cost €25 and €15 for concessions. Group discounts are available by calling 091 569777.
Booking at tht.ie, 091-569777 or at the box office.
