The pop-up festivals that emerged from Claregalway Castle played host to some of Galway’s standout gigs from last summer. One such event, the inaugural Fall Right Into Place, was curated by the city’s independent record label Strange Brew. At the centre of that label is the Róisín Dubh’s long-time booking agent and promoter Gugai MacNamara, who is set to build on the festival’s debut with a sequel scheduled for the weekend of September 16 to 18.
Fall Right Into Place returns for its sophomore year with an eye on making the most of the post-Covid music landscape.
The line-up is littered with talent – from headliners NewDad, The Scratch and The Mary Wallopers to the likes of High School, Junior Brother and Jossle.
Its planning has benefitted from the eventual lifting of all pandemic-based restrictions, and it is aided this year by a second stage as well as a bus service that will shuttle crowds back into the city’s West End to stretch the night out even further.
“Last year, when we announced it, there were major restrictions and then they eased off a little bit,” Gugai recalls.
“There are a few things we want to improve upon. We added the bus service very late last year. I think that’s going to be really handy for people – having a subsidised bus service running from town and back afterwards will make it easy to get in and out.
