As the head of her own record label 99CTS Records, a resident of iconic Parisian venue Rex Club and the host of her own slot on Rinse France, Miley Serious is as versatile, resourceful, and multi-skilled as any DJ performing internationally today.
It goes some way to explaining her touring schedule from the last year, which has included dates in the U.S., Europe and most recently Australia & New Zealand.
On Saturday April 8, presented by G-Town Records, Miley plays the Róisín Dubh alongside Galway’s own Shampain, with support from Luke Kiid.
The G-Town Recs shows have become calendar highlights for many of the city’s gig-goers, and, as a friend of the label, it has been on Miley’s radar for some time.
She often describes her sets as learning experiences for both herself and the audience, with the direction of the music taking influence from the sounds and styles of the people in a given location. For an Irish show, she feels as though, to some extent, the pressure is taken away.
“What’s amazing is Ireland is so open minded,” Miley insists. “The kids are the best. They follow you and go with you and if you give the same energy, they want to give it back to you.
“My partner played for Cóilí and Evan at a G-Town Recs gig and it was the best show of his life – he said you have to be here to experience it. I will always be myself when I play in Ireland because I know people will be there to push me and make me feel good.
“We have a little thing where we call Ireland a little cheat code. If you’re down, you go to Ireland and you have the best time, and then you feel so good.”
Cóilí Collins (Shampain), the co-founder of G-Town Records, is a close friend of Miley’s and has performed with her many times.
