A 23-year-old man allegedly used a knife to slice the arm of another man during a violent incident at a pub in Ballinasloe earlier this year.
Daniel Hernandez, with an address at 11 Brewery Lane, Ballinasloe, faces two charges arising from an alleged incident at The Cellar Bar, Hobson’s Lane on March 9, 2025. He is charged with committing violent disorder with five other named people contrary to Section 15 of the Criminal Justice Public Order Act. He is also charged with an offence contrary to Section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, the production of an article during the course of a dispute.
That charge alleges that Fernandez brought a red handled knife to the Cellar Bar and lash out with said knife, slicing the upper arm of another male and then attempted to lash out at another male.
Sergeant Christy Browne told the court the Director of Public Prosecutions directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Criminal Court, with consent for the accused to be sent forward on a signed plea of guilty, should it arise. The court heard that all disclosure in the case will be provided to the accused’s solicitor, Tony McLynn.
Judge James Faughnan remanded Hernandez on bail to appear again on November 17.
