Road signs rollout
Motorists, tourists and all road users will be pleased to learn that the erection of road signs throughout County Galway is once more being taken up with the County Council by the Automobile Association.
Galway is one of the few counties in Ireland that has not its roads properly marked and its dangerous corners indicated. Before the trouble, a scheme had actually been prepared, and we believe the signs were ready. Then came the period of chaos and unrest, and nothing could be done.
Now the matter is being brought forward again. We hope no hitch will be permitted to delay the erection of the sign, and that the work will be proceeded with as speedily as possible.
It is an aspersion on County Galway that road signs and other facilities for the public convenience are interfered with by a type of hooligan akin to those who throw stones at lady motorists.
We hope this discredit will not recur and that we shall more nearly approach a saner and more admirable civilisation.
