White Noise, an original work created by the dancers of Youth Ballet West on the theme of noise in our lives, will be staged in Druid’s Mick Lally Theatre on Saturday, May 13, at 7pm and on Sunday, May 15, at 5pm.

This is a newly-devised contemporary ballet from the teenage dancers of Youth Ballet West,  the only semi-professional dance company west of the Shannon, whose members come from seven counties.

This show, which is choreographed by the Artistic Director of Youth Ballet West, Judith Sibley , with a storyline by writer and director Anne McCabe, explores how people live in the modern world. We are surrounded by noise in our daily lives from first thing in the morning until we put our devices down at night. From street noises to social media, news bulletins to our favourite music, ‘White Noise’ explores the complex relationship we have with the sounds of the world around us.

And it asks, where is the silence in this world of constant noise.

The dancers perform to a superb soundtrack and visual background of video image as they  express in movement their responses to the noise of our modern world.

Tickets for White Noise are available at Druid.ie.
