West United paid the ultimate price on Sunday for a poor start to the season, which had seen them take just four points from their first nine games, when a 2-0 defeat at home to Hibs saw them lose their top-flight status.
They will be joined by Corrib Celtic, who were beaten 4-1 at home by Maree/Oranmore, meaning this Sunday’s fixture list will be a more social occasion with nothing at stake.
Meanwhile at the top of the table, Salthill Devon were presented with the league trophy following their last league game of the season against Colga, as Emlyn Long’s side recorded back-to-back titles.
In the Connacht Junior Cup, Mervue United crashed out of the Connacht Junior Cup with a 4-0 defeat to Castlebar Celtic, and the Mayo side will take on Athenry in the final on Sunday May 28; while Knocknacarra advanced to the Connacht Shield final and will face Conn Rangers in the decider.

Hibernians 2
West had to win to try and get to even a play-off situation to try and avoid the drop and while Hibernians were just above the relegation zone, but a loss could drag them back into the mess near the bottom two.
On a pitch more suited to agriculture than football with patches of long grass and loose grass all over the place, it was Hibernians who always looked to be the footballing side.
However, despite the visitors enjoying wind advantage in the opening half, chances were sparse as just Shane Walsh went close to a breakthrough. Despite the promptings of Denis Farragher, Enda Farragher, Niall Martyn and the Murphy brothers – Neville and Oisin – West hardly got out of their own half.
