Public order trial now adjourned to next year

The case of a 23-year-old man charged in connection with a public order disturbance at a filling station near Ballinasloe has been adjourned to next year.

At Ballinasloe District Court, Sergeant Christy Brown said the book of evidence was not ready in the case against John Martin.

Martin, with an address at 14 St Grellans Terrace, Ballinasloe, is charged with committing affray with another named male at Dolan’s Filling Station, Kilgarve, Ballinasloe. The alleged offence is contrary to section 16 of the Public Order Act.

The court was told the District Court previously refused jurisdiction of the case, meaning it will likely be heard in the Circuit Court.

Solicitor Tony McLynn said his client was not present in court as he was sick. Judge James Faughnan adjourned the case to February 5, 2026.
