A 35-year-old man has signed a guilty plea to the possession for sale or supply of cannabis and ketamine worth €13,000 or more in Corrandulla.

Jason Moylan, with an address at 39 Belmount, Dublin Road, Galway, entered guilty pleas to five offences contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act and was sent forward for sentencing to Galway Circuit Court.

At Galway District Court, barrister Martin Durack BL, confirmed the case was proceeding on signed pleas of guilty.

Sergeant Claire Heneghan said the case involved five charges and the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented to Jason Moylan being sent forward to Galway Circuit Criminal Court for sentencing on January 20.

The accused spoke only to confirm to Judge John King that he understood the charges and the implication of entering guilty pleas.

Judge King granted legal aid for solicitor, Andrew Broderick, senior and junior counsel.

In the case, Jason Moylan is charged with possession of cannabis and possession of ketamine at Cloonleenaun, Corrandulla on June 16, 2023, contrary to section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He has also pleaded guilty to two charges of possession of drugs — cannabis and ketamine — for the purposes of sale or otherwise supply.

Moylan further pleaded guilty to an offence of possession of cannabis and ketamine for sale or supply at a time, a time when the market value of the drugs amounted to €13,000 or more, on June 16, 2023, at Cloonleenaun, Corrandulla.

That offence is contrary to section 15 (A) of the Misuse of Drugs Act and caries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years.
