Two Connemara ponies have once again made the trek to the Irish National Stud in Kildare where the docile native breed will be on display for the summer.
Following the success of a similar partnership with the National Stud last year, Kylemore Abbey has placed Ava, a 16-year-old Connemara mare and her filly foal, Peaceful Bláithín, in what is one of the country’s leading tourism attractions.
The purpose of the initiative, according to Kylemore CEO Conor Coyne, is to promote the breed in what is the centenary year of the Connemara Pony breeders Society.
“It is wonderful to once again be given the opportunity to promote the breed at another leading visitor attraction,” said Mr Coyne, adding that the Connemara ponies have become a significant part of the Kylemore experience in recent years.
“Connemara ponies have only been on the Kylemore estate for the past five years, but they have become a key feature of a visit to Kylemore Abbey and we are delighted we can share them with the visitors who come here and with the visitors to the National Stud.”
