CAB closes in on Galway’s big criminals

The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) is monitoring the activities of almost two dozen suspected criminals in Galway who are involved in organised crime and money laundering.

CAB – which focuses on seizing illegally acquired assets – is currently investigating 22 people in Galway City and County who are suspected of being involved in organised crime.

Garda Detective Supt Shane Cummins said there were two CAB officers working full-time in Galway for the past 18 months – and they have enjoyed significant success.

Det Supt Cummins told the Galway City Joint Policing Committee meeting this week that Gardaí had a good working relationship with CAB locally.

He said there were currently 22 people on CAB’s radar, who were actively being investigated for suspected organised criminal activity.
