A range of creative projects will be presented throughout the county this month as part of the latest Creative Ireland scheme, under a government-funded initiative to promote creativity and wellbeing.
Earlier this year, Galway County Arts Office awarded special Creative Ireland bursaries to community groups and individuals, artistic and creative practitioners and event organisers.
The results include Harness Your Hopes, a series of six podcasts showcasing new fiction from six authors based in the West.
Alan McMonagle, Órfhlaith Foyle, Gerry Boland, Celeste Augé, Sasha de Buyl, and Owodunni Mustapha have each written a new story inspired by the theme of hope. They will read these for the series, and will also discuss their craft and inspirations. The podcasts are produced and presented by Alan Meaney, and the series will be launched on Wednesday, September 21 on the Creative Ireland website, Apple, Spotify and other podcast platform.
Twisted Lane Productions, in partnership with Connemara West, will present a community arts project, Wild, a celebration of the Connemara Pony. This will culminate in the creation of a temporary mural of a pony. The callout for public participation has already begun, and people can sign up through Twisted Lane Productions Facebook Page or Connemarawest.ie.
