An acclaimed North Galway musical group, who have never been reluctant to take on a challenge, are back in action after a two-year enforced break and this time with a religious theme . . . well, kind of.

Tuam’s Marian Choral Society had never missed a production since being formed in 1977 but Covid meant they had to abandon plans over the past couple of years – similar to other arts groups.

Now they’re returning with Sister Act – many will remember the 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg – which will run in St Jarlath’s Hall, Tuam, from Tuesday to Saturday, November 1-5.

The Director and Choreographer is Ronan Lardner and the Musical Director is Shane Farrel. Both have had a long association with the Marian Choral Society while their talents have also been availed of by other groups countrywide.

The pandemic brought to an end a proud record of 43 consecutive productions by the Society. In fact, in 2013, they staged two shows to mark Tuam’s 400 celebrations.
