Brown Thomas Galway is the latest to get on board the phenomenon that is Trinny London with cult products such as the Elevator for the neck and the Take Back Time Eye Treatment quickly selling out. Trinny Woodall – who became a household name as a makeover guru with Susannah Constantine – reveals that women on this side of the pond like to go darker.
“Irish women tend to like their complexions a little warmer, so our Golden Glow bronzer is also a hit as it’s so easy being cream-based. Another popular product is our little wonder pot, Miracle Blur, which smooths fine lines, pores and acne scars and blends effortlessly into the skin for a seamless base.”
Trinny has just turned 60 and anyone who watches her regular posts – she has 1.4m followers on her personal account and 562k on the brand account – will see that she looks phenomenal, even with the help of Botox and fillers for a quarter of a century. Would she still recommend Botox now to women after her personal foray into the world of skincare?
“Everyone ages and everyone has a personal choice to decide how they age, whether they want to dye their hair or let it go naturally grey, if they want to get Botox or let lines naturally develop and that should always be an individual choice. I don’t like messaging in any brand that might dictate that their products stop you ageing and use words like anti-ageing,” she tells this column by email.
“I think the most important words we use are about having energy in your life and how can you have a makeup routine or use skincare products that make your skin look alive and full of energy because that’s what depletes if we don’t give it enough attention.”
Asked about her ‘desert island’ products, she says simply SPF.
“I say this to everyone, especially to anyone who uses retinol. I apply the Trinny London See The Light SPF 50+ Moisturiser, which feels so lightweight yet super hydrating on the skin, whilst offering brilliant protection from the sun. SPF is an absolute non-negotiable for me whether I’m at home in grey London or soaking up the sun somewhere further afield.”
