A teenage actor from Knocknacarra will have a starring role in a new TV series alongside Hugh Bonneville from Downton Abbey and Noel Fielding, one of the presenters from The Great British Bake Off.
Kiri Flaherty will surely be the envy of her new classmates in Salerno Secondary School as she swapped First Year in Salthill for Pinewood Studios in London and on location at Epping Forest filming the swashbuckling Apple TV comedy, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.
The six-episode Apple Original series is set in the 18th century and sees Noel Fielding play an inept version of the infamous highwayman from York, Dick Turpin, who tries to outwit the corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde, played by Bonneville, star of the children’s classic, Paddington.
Her role as Little Karen is the biggest of her budding career, which has seen her star in an award-winning short film Paddy as well as several TV advertisements and parts as extras.
And she’s still only 13.
