Electric nightclub in Galway is to reopen early next year, almost four years after the 1,400-capacity venue closed its doors.
Former manager of the venue, James Finan, confirmed to the Galway City Tribune that he had signed a lease to take over the club last Friday and works were already underway behind the scenes to reopen “in the first quarter of 2024”.
Mr Finan said there would be around 50 or 60 part-time jobs available at the venue once it reopens, as the club makes a welcome return to the city’s late-night offering which has dramatically shrunk in recent years.
“The rumours are true – we are reopening and it’s very exciting. We can’t wait to just get stuck in,” he said.
“The renovation works are underway right now – there’s sawdust on the floor at the moment.
“In March, it will be four years since it closed so obviously there is a lot of work to be done, both behind the scenes for opening but also aesthetically,” continued Mr Finan.
Electric and the adjacent Halo nightclub were put on the market by former owner Maurice Gillen in late 2021 and both were since purchased by a Galway native based in the UK.
