GARDAÍ tracking down three separate gangs behind a series of break-ins at business premises and houses across Galway city and county earlier this month have made four arrests over the past week.
Three of the arrests took place in the Dublin area on Tuesday morning last after Gardaí searched a premises in their investigation of car thefts and a ram-raid incident in Galway in early July.
The trio – understood to be from Eastern Europe – have been questioned under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, in relation to the series of break-ins across the country.
A fourth man is also being sought by Gardaí in relation to the crimes which included the stealing of two cars in the Tuam area on July 6 last, and a ram-raid break-in at a computer and phone shop on the edge of Galway City.
Detectives investigating the operations of the gang believe that they only entered Ireland about three weeks ago before engaging in a series of robberies at a number of locations across the country.
Two of those arrested are men aged in their thirties while the third is a male in his late teens – a vehicle seized at the scene of the arrests in Dublin is being forensically examined this week.
