Ballet Ireland will bring its first ever show for young people to Galway in Autumn when The Glasshouse will be performed as part of the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children.
The Glasshouse is an inspiring story of a young person embarking on a journey to transform a smoky, grey environment into a vibrant, green planet. It’s been created by award-winning Carlow choreographer Róisín Whelan and explores how small, conscious efforts can help rejuvenate the planet.
Róisín has a Master’s in Performance from England’ s Northern School of Contemporary Dance and is a former member of the UK-based Matthew Bourne New Adventures Company. She has won many awards and bursaries for dance and choreography as well as funding from the Arts Council.
In the past couple of years, she choreographed Man Down and The Galaxy Of Occupations, both of which were presented by her own company and were highly praised.
The Glasshouse, which Ballet Ireland commissioned Róisín to create deals with global warming, horticulture and the world’s determination to survive.
