Enough sewage to fill almost 2 thousand wheelie bins is flowing into two bays in Connemara every single day.
That’s according to Galway West TD John Connolly, who says Uisce Eireann has confirmed it’s moving to tackle the situation in An Cheathru Rua and Roundstone.
He says the state body is now conducting a new site selection process to identity where it can build treatment plants in both villages.
The figures show 1,300 wheelie bins worth of untreated wastewaster flows into Casla Bay every day; in Roundstone Bay the figure is over 600 wheelie bins.
Fianna Fail Deputy Connolly says it’s vital this is tackled as soon as possible.
