Award-winning restaurant Blackrock Cottage announced details of some exciting new initiatives at their summer launch event last week.
Salthill Promenade was bathed in beautiful sunshine as the Blackrock Cottage team celebrated winning ‘Best Restaurant in Galway’ earlier this year with a host of invited guests on their spectacular terrace overlooking Galway Bay.
Those in attendance were served a selection of gorgeous ‘light bites’ from the Cottage’s kitchen while they also sampled a range of non-alcoholic cocktails, wines, beers and some Guinness — which can now be enjoyed with a meal in the Cottage.
The event also marked the official launch of ‘The Cottage’ craft beer, an unfiltered lager that is the result of a collaboration between Blackrock Cottage and Galway Hooker Brewery.
The new lager — which has a floral and spicy hop aroma, complemented by subtle bitterness on a slightly bready, malt base — is on sale in both Blackrock Cottage and in the nearby Pantry.

‘The Cottage’ lager proved extremely popular with guests and has already become a big hit with diners in the restaurant.
And in another exciting development, Blackrock Cottage’s new website also went ‘live’ on the evening.
The new site has been designed to make the user’s experience both easy and enjoyable, and will ensure that making dinner reservations has never been more straightforward.
Anybody who would like to browse the Cottage’s opening hours, see their sample menus, or purchase a Gift Card for a special occasion can do so now at www.blackrockcottage.ie
Head chef Martin O’Donnell also announced details of a new ‘Prom Stroller’ menu that will be available on Monday evenings over the rest of the summer.
Diners can choose from a ‘Swim and Pink Cocktail’ or ‘The Cottage’ craft beer to start.
The three-course set menu has been designed for casual dining with a starter of Organic Soup, Blackrock Chowder or Marinated Chicken Salad, followed by a main course of Crispy Fish Taco, Dried Aged Rib Eye Beef Burger or Blackrock Poke Bowl.

The desserts on the menu are Apple Genoise Cake or Forced Summer Rhubarb and Passionfruit Cremeux Pavlova.
Martin also told the assembled audience that Blackrock Cottage is expecting to be extremely busy over the coming weeks with the Galway Arts Festival and Galway Races drawing big crowds to the city.
“Our advice is to book your tables now for dinner, and you won’t be disappointed!”
Blackrock Cottage is open for dinner each evening on Thursday to Monday from 6pm.
‘Last orders’ on each of those evenings is just after 9pm — except for Sundays when the restaurant closes at 8pm. Reservations can be made online or at (091) 399280.
The Cottage is open seven days a week from 8am serving breakfast with brunch and lunch available from 12.30pm.
