The global live entertainment platform Fever, is bringing its candlelit concert series to Ireland next month and will be in Galway on Friday, February 16, for what’s being billed as a Valentine’s Day performance.
Featuring local classical group ConTempo performing soundtracks from movies such as Love Actually, Titanic, Moulin Rouge and La La Land as well as other romantic tunes, this live, candlelit experience is being staged in the city’s St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church.
It’s as part of a national tour that also takes in Dublin, Limerick and Cork.
Candlelight Concerts are a series of original music concerts created by Fever, which are “aimed at democratising access to classical music”, according to the group.
“This innovative format represents a unique live musical experience through a varied offer of programmes to meet all tastes, played by local musicians, in emblematic venues, with the space and performers illuminated by thousands of candles,” the organisers state.
Candlelight was initially conceived as a classical music series, with early concerts featuring works from composers including Vivaldi, Mozart, and Chopin.
The growing list of programmes now includes a range of themes and genres, including tributes to Queen, ABBA, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran, as well as shows dedicated to anime, film soundtracks and more.
The experience has also evolved to feature different artforms, such as ballet dancers or aerial performers, as well as genres, such as jazz, soul, opera and flamenco.
Tickets for the Galway concert on February 16 are available at https://feverup.com/m/147546 and prices for the hour-long show range from €19 to €35.
