A Galway City carer is in the running for national honours for her outstanding work.
Folashade Adedokun has been announced as the Galway regional winner and finalist in Right at Home’s Carer of the Year Awards 2025.
The awards recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication of care staff who play a significant role in their communities, enabling elderly people and people with disabilities to continue to live independent lives in the comfort of their own homes.
Presented by Right at Home, a provider of in-home care and assistance for seniors and adults, nominations for the awards were submitted by those who they work closest with including clients, clients’ families, co-workers, managers, and supervisors.
Folashade will join six other candidates from all over Ireland at a special awards ceremony today Friday, October 17.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting communities, Right at Home has also launched its ‘Road to 1000’ recruitment campaign, aiming to hire 1,000 new carers nationwide.
Folashade said that she was honoured to be nominated for the Carer of the Year awards.
“Caring for people in their own homes is incredibly rewarding, it’s about making sure they feel supported, respected, and comfortable,” she added.
The national winner of Right at Home’s Carer of the Year will be announced at an awards ceremony in Kildare where the winner will be unveiled.
“Folashade’s nomination for the Carer of the Year award is a wonderful recognition of the compassion, dedication, and commitment she shows every day. She is deeply trusted by her clients and respected by her colleagues, and she consistently brings warmth and positivity to her role,” said Natalie Crowe, Managing Director of Right at Home Galway.
“She goes above and beyond in everything she does, approaching her work with professionalism and genuine care.”
