A Galway city native has been appointed partner at Irish law firm Mason Hayes & Curran.
Originally from Knocknacarra, Keith Newman is a past pupil of St Joseph’s Patrician College (the Bish) and studied law at the University of Galway. He later completed a Master of Laws at Trinity College Dublin.
Keith rejoins the firm as partner in its Energy team, after three years as lead in-house counsel at a major global technology company.
He advised on construction and energy matters across EMEA, including high-profile data centre developments and renewable energy procurement transactions.
Keith’s work focuses on technologies including wind, solar, storage, and hybrid systems. He also advises data centre developers on all legal aspects of project delivery, with a particular focus on energy procurement and construction.
“Ireland’s energy sector is growing rapidly and faces increased complexity,” he said.
“I’m pleased to return to Mason Hayes & Curran and to help shape some of Ireland’s most critical energy and infrastructure projects.
“Having worked in-house, I understand the pressures clients face and the importance of commercial advice that keeps projects moving,” he added.
Keith began his legal career at Mason Hayes & Curran, where he trained, worked in the firm’s London office and then qualified on to the energy team.
He has more than a decade of experience advising on complex, cross-border energy and infrastructure projects throughout Ireland, Europe and the United States.
Mason Hayes & Curran employs over 650 staff including 124 partners, and has offices in Dublin, London, New York and San Francisco.
