From this week's Galway City Tribune
From this week’s Galway City Tribune – Flannery’s Hotel on the Dublin Road in Galway returned to profitability last year, but its owners have warned that spiralling energy costs are presenting “significant challenges”.
The company’s financial position was helped by the receipt of just under €1.2 million under the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) and €145,000 under the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS).
However, hotelier Anne Flannery has indicated that the premises will require a major spend over the next two years to keep it up to standard.
According to accounts filed with the Companies Registration Office, Flannery’s Motor Inns, reported an after-tax profit of just over €1 million for the year ended December 31, 2021 (the previous year, the company had a loss of €87,700).
During 2021, the company was in receipt of more than €1.3m in government Covid-19 grants. It employed 101 people, up from 62 the previous year.
