Easter performance of St Matthew’s Passion

Music for Galway and the Irish Baroque Orchestra will present Bach’s St Matthew’s Passion on Saturday 25 March, in Galway Cathedral, starting at 7.30pm.
On the day before Palm Sunday, this magnificent work will be brought to life by Irish conductor Peter Whelan, directing the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the vocal ensemble Sestina, with solo parts taken from members of the choir and the Evangelist role being sung by tenor James Way.
St Matthew’s Passion, which hasn’t been performed in Galway for some years, is being presented as part of Music for Galway’s Bach Season and is being sponsored by KPMG.
Tickets are available from www.musicforgalway.ie or by phone on 091 705962 and are €30/€27 and €12 for full-time students of all ages. Music for Galway Friends have a special concession of €26.
