The city’s Town Hall and Black Box theatres will host leading Irish and international comics this weekend for a series of mixed-bill shows.
The gigs are among the highlights of the 2022 Galway Comedy Festival, which opened on Tuesday and runs until next Monday, October 31.
Ardal O’Hanlon, Reginald D Hunter, Jo Caulfield, Kevin McAleer and Rich Hall are among those playing both venues from this Friday to Monday, with tickets still available.
Ardal O’Hanlon will headline the Black Box on Saturday and the Town Hall on Sunday 30, while Reginald D Hunter is the headline act at the Black Box this Friday and Sunday 30. The three-time Perrier Award-nominated American delivers provocative, challenging comedy, which is never afraid to challenge.
Jo Caulfield, meanwhile, will play the Black Box this Saturday and the Town Hall on Sunday. She won a BAFTA as Graham Norton’s head writer, and she has appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Saturday Night Live, and Dawn French’s Girls Who Do Comedy.
Emma Doran, one of the rising stars of Irish comedy, has already sold out her solo show at the Loft at Seven. However, she will be at the Festival’s closing gala at the Town Hall on Monday night with Andrew Maxwell and Rich Hall, among others.
Andrew Maxwell will also be at the Black Box this Friday and Saturday while another Irish comedy legend, Kevin McAleer, will be at the Black Box on Sunday.
Rich Hall, the grouchy singing cowboy from Montana, will perform at the Festival’s closing gala in the Town Hall on Bank Holiday Monday, with his trademark acerbic delivery and alternative approach to country music.
Tickets for these and all shows are on sale at www.galwaycomedyfestival.ie.
