Galway City’s award-winning theatre company, KATS, is reviving its lauded production of Tom Smith’s laugh-out-loud comedy, Drinking Habits.
The group will be at the Town Hall Theatre from Tuesday, April 9, to Friday, April 12, with the show which features nuns, illegal booze, and plenty of secrets.
The Knocknacarra Amateur Theatre Society – better known as KATS – have been staging successful productions for more than 25 years and Drinking Habits, which they first presented last year, is the latest in a long line.
In this farce, two nuns who are members of the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing, have been secretly making wine to keep the convent doors open.
However, reporters Paul and Sally, who were previously romantically entangled, have got wind of their unorthodox enterprise and decide to investigate by going undercover as a nun and a priest. Their arrival, combined with the addition of a new nun, creates paranoia throughout the convent and there are fears that spies have been sent from Rome to shut down the order.
Wine and secrets are spilled as everyone tries to save the convent and reconnect with lost loves.
Drinking Habits is produced by Linsey Cant. The cast is Dave Langan (Paul), Róisín NicAodhgain (Sally), Joan Gildea (Sr Augusta), Michelle Lyons (Sr Philomena), Marsha Maly (Sr Mary Catherine), Geraldine Holmes (Mother Superior), Damian O’Keefe (Father Chenille), and Sean Steede (George).
The stage manager is Mairead Lydon.
According to KATS, this will be the last revival of Drinking Habits in Galway.
■ Tickets are €22/20 from the Town Hall Theatre, online at tht.ie by phone at 091 -569777 or from the box office.
