Galway Music Residency is bringing new music to Galway City and County this weekend with three concerts on consecutive days. Galway’s Ensemble in Residence, the ConTempo Quartet, will backbone this series, and will be joined by a talented mix of musicians and artists.
It all kicks off with the return of the popular multi-genre series 3 Kinds of Music at 3pm this Saturday at Druid’s Mick Lally Theatre. This programme includes classical, improvised and traditional music. Curated by guest artist Marco Ramelli, the concert features Marco performing chamber music for strings and guitar with members of ConTempo. Louisburgh-based composer and improviser Bianca Gannon features in her first performance for Galway Music Residency sharing the sounds of the Indonesian gamelan. Vocalist and visual artist Ceara Conway will also take to the stage with cellist Mary Barnecutt, performing traditional song and original sounds.
