From this week’s Galway City Tribune – A successful business owned by a city councillor recorded a profit of more than €180,000 in 2021, according to newly-filed accounts.
Larkin Engineering Enterprises Ltd, which is owned by Independent councillor, Noel Larkin, was in receipt of Government Covid grants totalling €226,171 for the financial year ending December 31, 2021.
The company recorded an after-tax profit of just over €181,000 for the year – down from almost €254,000 the previous year.
Larkin Engineering is based in Tuam and builds street furniture – including seating, bollards, railings, litter bins, bicycle shelters, railings, barriers and picnic tables.
According to an ethics declaration form filed by Cllr Larkin with Galway City Council earlier this year, the company supplied street furniture to 30 town councils and twelve county councils across the country.
