Health, Beauty and Lifestyle with Denise McNamara
As we crawl towards the end of this never-ending winter of storms, icy temperatures and relentless rain, there is hope at the end of the many rainbows stretching across the horizon following yet another shower.
It’s only the last fortnight I’ve started to spot the daffodils, which kept below ground with these devious frosts hitting us so often.
Their arrival signals an opportune time to prepare for the renewal of spring and maybe adopting some healthier habits to achieve a more balanced life.
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist and sleep therapist, Denise Iordache, believes this is the perfect time in the seasons to address sleep and stress, two of the most important ingredients to energise both body and mind.
First off, she advises to assess your sleep environment.
“Imagine your bedroom as a sanctuary for rest and relaxation. Is it conducive to a good night’s sleep? The sleep environment plays a crucial role in determining the quality of your sleep. Start by evaluating the comfort and tranquillity of your bedroom. Is the mattress and pillow supporting your body properly? Are the curtains providing a dark enough environment for quality sleep?”
Optimizing your sleep environment positively impacts sleep quality, insists Denise.
“Maintaining a comfortable temperature in the bedroom, between 15-19 degrees Celsius, contributes to better sleep. Consider investing in blackout curtains, comfortable bedding, and ensuring your mattress and pillows are providing adequate support.”
