Man on assault charge ordered to leave house Man on assault charge ordered to leave house

By Ronan Judge

A man accused of assaulting another man in a house in Rahoon last week has been told he must find a new place to stay.

Karl Moore O’Connor (47), with a former address at 106 Rosan Glás, Rahoon, was granted bail at Galway District Court, subject to conditions.

He is charged that on December 1 at 106 Rosan Glás, Rahoon, he assaulted a man causing him harm, contrary to section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against The Person Act, as amended.

Garda Neil Waters gave evidence of arresting the accused and in reply to the charge after caution, the court heard Karl Moore O’Connor said “sorry”.

The court was told there was no objection to bail subject to the accused abiding by conditions.

He must sign on once a week at Garda station, remain intoxicant free and not have contact with any potential witnesses in the case.

Moore O’Connor was also told he must find an alternative address and remain away from his former address, save for the collection of his property.

Garda Waters said Gardaí would accompany the accused when he collected his property.

The court heard that directions were awaited from the Director of Public Prosecutions on how the case is to proceed.

Judge John King remanded the accused on bail to appear again on February 9, 2026.
