IDA Ireland is pushing ahead with plans for a new office development at Parkmore on the edge of the city.
Construction on the facility is expected to commence next July and take up to 18 months to complete.
The IDA would not be drawn on what company or industry will occupy the new ‘Advanced Technology Unit’, which secured planning permission from Galway County Council last February.
It said the new 4,472 metre square development earmarked for IDA Parkmore Business & Technology Park was part of its property programme to support its three-year strategy to 2024. Once completed, it will support the IDA “in winning new name FDI (foreign direct investment) and the expansion of our existing client base”, a spokesperson said.
“The programme also supports the property needs of our sister agency, Enterprise Ireland,” she added.
It is one of 19 of what the IDA describes as ‘advanced building solutions’ in regional locations across Ireland.
“An Advanced Building Solution (ABS) in Parkmore forms part of this programme and this project is at the public procurement stage. The commencement of this property is wholly dependent upon successful completion of this process and subject to IDA Board approval,” she said.
