A new exhibition by experimental artist Kristy Verenga which has opened at the Gallery Café in Gort explores a very basic question: Who Am I?
Born in Minnesota and now living in Kinvara, Kristy uses paints, paperclay sculpture and porcelain to create the world that she calls home.
She’s a former student of modern dance and music and that background is evident in the sense of movement that runs through her visual art.
She lived in Manhattan for 15 years where she had a fashion business, ran an art gallery and taught yoga.
Kirsty moved to Barcelona in 1999, where she had a studio in Tecla Sala, a gallery and workspace for artists. Six years later, A subsequent travel bursary enabled her to travel to Sanskriti Kendra in New Delhi, India.
She now lives and works in Kinvara and has exhibited with the local visual art group, KAVA.
Her exhibition will run until January 7 next year and all the pieces are available to buy from the café. People are welcome to call to the Gallery or check out the show online at www.thegallerycafegort.com.
