Local group, the Opacas will perform a live show at Monroe’s on Friday, May 26, to mark the release their 10th single, Shine On.
This double A-side release from the group (Steve Talbot, Peter Tobin, Pat Boyle, Mark Raynor, Mike McLoughlin, and Joe Treacy) features a full studio production, as well as a live version recorded in St Nicholas Collegiate Church earlier this year.
This tribute to a work colleague who died unexpectedly, also features the talents of the Moycullen Musical Society. It will be available on Spotify and all streaming platforms.
The concert will be a triple bill of local talent. Tomás Ó Cáinte will kick off the evening, with songs from his upcoming album, Late To The Party. He’s the musical director of Moycullen Musical Society and the choir’s collaboration with The Opacas came about after he attended a gig they played in Salthill last year. Tomás’s song Birdwatching is a highlight of the album.
Also appearing will be Galway-based, three-part harmony vocal group, KaRoSal, who sing both acapella and with guitar accompaniment. Their music is a mix of bluegrass, gospel, contemporary, and folk. The group is made up of Kara Donohoe, Róna O’Riordan and Sarah Toomey, who amalgamated their names to create the band’s title. Their debut EP, KaRoSal – Songs in 3 Part Harmony, is on Spotify and features Tears of Stone, written by Seán McGrath from Moycullen.
Tickets for their show, which starts at 8pm, are €10 from www.monroes.ie.
