The significant burst led to a supply outage in Glenamaddy and it’s surrounds.
Emergency works have now been completed – but there will be intermittent disruptions to the water supply in the Kiltullagh area for the rest of the day.
Clifden gets official state recognition as a Gaeltacht Service Town
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Clifden has received official state recognition as a Gaeltacht Service Town.
The status will see the local community receive half a million euro in state investment to advance the usage of Irish in the area.
To kick start the process, FORUM Connemara has launched a community language plan alongside Connemara Chamber of Commerce.

Galway county councillors approve €159m budget for 2023
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway county councillors have voted to approve a €159 million budget for the running of the county next year.
However, concerns remain about the level of funding being provided by central Government, which has long been a point of contention.
There was a proposal on the table to increase commercial rates by 6 percent, as recommended by the council executive to boost revenue.
But this was opposed by most councillors and was not implemented into the approved budget.
Councillor Andrew Reddington says it’s not easy to balance the books, but they know the current economic climate is tough on everyone.
Planned increases in road tolls, including Ballinasloe booth, deferred until July
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Planned increases in road tolls are to be deferred, including the price rise at the M6 Ballinasloe toll.
The three coalition leaders have agreed to the move.
The hike in tolls was due to take effect in January, on nine of the country’s ten tolled roads.
The toll at Cappataggle was to rise by 10 cent.
However, nationally, the tolls will not rise until July.
It follows widespread criticism of the decision to hike prices during the cost of living crisis.
