Varadkar says Fine Gael not worried about rebel group involving Galway senator
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A cabinet minister says Fine Gael has nothing to fear from a new grouping of its former members which includes Galway senator Fidelma Healy Eames
The Oranmore senator along with one other senator and four TDs are setting up a ‘Reform Alliance’ which will sit together in the Dáil.
Galway west TD Brian Walsh had been with the alliance initially but has since withdrawn his membership
The members are grouping together after being told they won’t be allowed to run for Fine Gael in future, because they voted against party policies.
But Transport Minister Leo Varadkar says Fine Gael will remain focussed on bigger issues.

Request for more time to build sports facility at Inishbofin appealed to planning board
From Galway Bay FM newsroom- The county council’s refusal of an application for more time to develop a sports facility at Inishbofin has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
The plan led by Inishbofin Development Company C-L-G to request extra time for the project was refused by the council in April.
The development at Middlequarter involves a single storey sports facility to include dressing rooms, referee room, showers and toilets.
An Bord Pleanála is due to issue a decision in September.

Gaelscoil Dara’s winning entry asked the question ‘do children learn better from a teacher or from each other?’
From Galway Bay FM newsroom- The Athenry Agricultural Show is returning tomorrow for the first time since 2019.
As with previous years, there will be a wide range of classes in categories such as showjumping, equine, sheep and dog showing, and baking.
Many categories will hold championships, and a range of qualifiers for other shows throughout the country will also be available.
