Twelve nominations for Galway's local authorities at national awards

Galway City and County Councils have picked up 12 nominations for the All-Ireland Community and Council Awards

The ceremony takes place in Cork on February 22nd

Galway City Council has made the shortlist of six for overall Council of the Year

It has also received nominations for Gaillimh le Gaeilge, the Environmental Project Buaille Bó in Ballyloughane, the Galway tech start-up ‘Mart Eye’, the Ballybane Community Project, city-based tech hub ‘Platform 94’, the Eglinton Canal and both the ‘Net Zero Pilot City’ and ‘The Air We Share’ initiatives.

Galway County Council is recognised for its Solar Structures start-up, the environmental project ‘Fish and Chips Sustainably’ and Leenane Community Park,

In addition, Galway Positive Ageing Week, a joint initiative of both Galway City and County Councils, is nominated in the Best Mental Health Award category.
