Town Hall’s diverse events – from global to local

Theatre, comedy, music, dance, musicals, local performing arts schools, birdsong, and sex education are among the events being offered in the packed Spring/Summer programme from Galway Town Hall Theatre.
The season runs from April to June and all information – including details on the Cúirt International Festival of Literature and Galway Theatre Festival – is in the latest brochure, which is available online and from the theatre’s box office.
Novelists Sally Rooney, Anne Enright, Roddy Doyle and Donal Ryan will be in the Town Hall next month for Cúirt, while theatre highlights for the season will include performances by Rough Magic and the Gate Theatre, Galway Theatre Festival, Malaprop, MOSH by Rachel Ní Bhraonáin, Eoin Ryan, and Fishamble with two productions (Before and Silent) by Pat Kinevane.
Local favourites KATS will bring their production of Arsenic and Old Lace to the main stage, while Truman Theatre will premiere Mick Donnellan’s new play, Outlaw Pete, and Eastside Community Drama will perform Chekhov’s classic Uncle Vanya in the Town Hall Studio.
Dance shows will include Six out of Seven by M Dance from Romania – choreographed by Eoin Mac Donncha from An Cheathrú Rua – as well as Youth Ballet West’s performance of Outsider, featuring Headford drumming group Drumadore.
The music lineup will include concerts by the interactive Choir Choir Choir; folk legends Peggy Seeger, and Ralph McTell; Donegal folk group Onóir; the throat singing of Huun Huur Tu; Tom Dunne with Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Alan Connor; Lloyd Cole, and G4.
Also on the music front, there’s an Evening of Classical Indian Melodies by Aparna and Milind Gurav, and the return of Vladimir Jablokov.
Fans of musicals will have the opportunity to see the critically acclaimed Movicals – The Best of Movie Musicals, and Galway Musical Society’s production of Sweeney Todd.
And for those interested in tribute acts, there are shows in homage to Tina Turner, Johnny Cash, Ed Sheeran, John Prine, Abba, Kate Bush and Pink Floyd.
There’s lots of comedy, with performances from Pat and Faye Shortt, Gearóid Farrelly, Tadhg J Devery, Jarlath Regan, Rhys Darby, and Steptoe and Son Live!
Special events will include Seán Ronayne’s Birdsong, Forbidden Nights, Bingo Loco, Bumbled, Drumadore, and sex educator Jenny Keane.
Family shows include Dinosaurs Live and an unprecedented 13 local performing arts school groups from the city and county.
