Talented Craughwell AC Killduff storms to gold medal in the 400m hurdles

THE final weekend of the National Juvenile Track & Field Championships was held in the heat of Tullamore, with Galway clubs finishing off the track and field season in some style
Lauren Kilduff of Craughwell AC topped the weekend’s performances, becoming U-18 National champion in the 400m hurdles and breaking the championship record with a time of 60:33. Clubmate Emma O’Donovan took the bronze in 62.44.
Also for the club, Halle Feerick stormed to All-Ireland gold with a fantastic PB of 24.83 in the 200m heats before following it up with another brilliant run to take the National U-14 boys 200m title with a dip on the line in a time of 25.08. Darragh Kelly secured the U-19 high jump title with a 1.75m clearance to add to his sprint hurdles title from a few weeks ago.
Five Galway City Harriers relay teams medalled at the National Relay events held on Sunday, with the club’s Under 12 Girls 4×100 claiming a superb gold thanks to Katie McGlynn, Elliana Magnetti, Thea Lynch, Maneli Fazaeli and Matilda McGlynn.
Three GCH teams won silver medals – the U-19 boys 4x400m squad of Odhran Mooney Johnston Oisin Maher, Sean Danker, Shane McGovern and Alvin Ngani; the Under 17 boys 4x100m squad of Kevin Sangodele, Charlie O’Malley, Hugo Lynagh, Mahmoud Diarrassouba and Majus Ogulevicius , and the Under 14 boys 4x100m team of Luke Collins, Joshua Danker, Darcy Noel, Louis Jean Hounkponou, plus Harrison Agnew and Adam Daly.
The Under 17 Mixed 4x400m team swooped to win bronze thanks to Lauren Ward, Adill Prochownik Mohamed, Keilah Murray, Justin McCarthy, plus Katie O’Haire and Luke Spence.
South Galway AC secured All-Ireland bronze with Isle Ní Chonghaile in the U-12 long jump, while Ben Naughton for Loughrea AC struck bronze and a new personal best in the U-16 1500m.
Tuam AC duo Rachel Treacy and Danielle Moynihan both won their second medal of the championships with Treacy placing second in the U-16 250m hurdles in a new personal best while Moynihan won the bronze in the U-19 200m, her last ever juvenile race
For West Coast AC, it was a silver lining for their U-18 boys relay team who raced to a super silver with the squad of Caleb Ike, Daniel Sangodele, Ben Moran, Sizothini Ndhlovu and Jayden Montes
West Coast sprinter Lemar Lucciano took home a second National medal of the season, this time in the U-19 200m.
